There are few opportunities in Metro Vancouver where African Canadian and African Descent youth can sit down, chat and celebrate and learn from each other’s experience. The Hip Hop Summit, now The B-Global Hip Hop Gathering, has been an on-going event for the 20 years in Uganda. During the global Pandemic the response of our Vancouver youth counterparts in our virtual B-Global Hip Hop Gathering 2020 demonstrated the need and desire for Bavubuka to initiate this gathering for diasporic youth in Canada.

The B-Global Hip Hop Gathering Vancity Edition – Uniting Voice is a three-day educational celebration of Hip Hop designed to celebrate, preserve, and create opportunities for the youth of African Descent to the awakening of strength in the youth voice. For the last 20 years the Bavubuka Foundation has utilized the power of Hip-Hop music and culture as a catalyst of to empower youth to use their voice for positive social change locally and abroad. Hip-Hop is the contemporary youth’s cultural foundation and symbolizes people living in marginalized communities’ ability to flourish and live their dreams. The B-Global vision is to empower and educate the youth to lay foundations upon which their communities can grow, build, and be transformed, through the engagement and practice of Hip Hop culture.
